In the world of Wasteland, the old military-industrial infrastructure is long gone. Plate armor, when found, is a rare and heavily contested piece of equipment—far more durable than the patched-together leather or chainmail most wastelanders can manage, but also far heavier and more difficult to maintain without proper tools and materials. The Deliverers of Wasteland 2 and 3 operate in a world where every bullet counts and a single well-placed round can end a mission. Plate armor reduces the lethality of those rounds, allowing a squad member to absorb hits that would otherwise be fatal. In the hands of a character with high Constitution or a build focused on holding a choke point, it can turn a desperate firefight into a survivable one. Yet the wasteland punishes greed. A character encumbered by the heaviest plate may struggle to keep pace with the rest of the squad, may be harder to hide, and may find that the armor's protection is meaningless if they cannot reach cover in time. The choice to equip plate armor is ultimately a tactical one: maximum protection at the cost of agility, reflecting the broader theme of the series that survival in the wasteland demands constant trade-offs.
